"The Last Guardian" is an upcoming video game developed by genDESIGN and SIE Japan Studio,  designed and directed by Fumito Ueda, and published by Sony Interactive entertainment for PlayStation 4.

The Last Guardian's story is framed as a flashback narrative of an old man recounting his experience as a young boy meeting a giant, feathered creature, resembling like a griffin. The creature's name is Trico, meaning 'prisoner', 'baby bird', or a portmanteau of the bird.

"The Last Guardian" is a third-person perspective game that combines action, adventure, and puzzle. The player controls the unarmed boy who can run, jump, climb and perform other action similar to "Ico" and "Shadow of the Colossus."

"The Last Guardian" will be supporting PlayStation 4 Pro, with the much-awaited game upscaling to 4K resolution and bringing performance improvements on Sony's new console when it launches this December.

"The Last Guardian" has been in development by Team Ico since 2007 and was first announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2009. The released was originally scheduled in 2011 for the PlayStation 3.

Failing to jump off in 2011, "The Last Guardian" was reintroduced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015 and will be released worldwide starting December 6, 2016.

"The Last Guardian" soundtrack was composed by Takeshi Furukawa and performed by London Symphony Orchestra, Trinity Boys choir, and London Voices.

Creating "The Last Guardian" has been long and difficult, but it also served as the learning experience - waiting for a new experience, the new journey of a lifetime in this touching story of friendship and trust.
