The flip phone may be the trend again as Apple has recently been granted a patent for a flexible phone that can fold in half and grip in one's clothes. In 1990s Motorola introduced the flip phone concept. Now, this new iPhone will make a new trend because people might not need to put it in the pocket and people right now are open to changes.

The patent was actually filed in July 2014 which shows that Apple has been planning to build a smartphone which will have a flexible display with a hinge on one side. It may be other "Electronic device" as well. The patent for "flexible display devices" reveals a touchscreen phone with a flexible, metal-backed OLED display that can be folded in half and grip to a user's clothes, as written in International Business Times.

An Apple Insider, who have monitored the patent filing, has revealed that there were two photos of the potential iPhones, one with a single hinge and other with two hinges. If this is true, then there will be two different section in which there will be different parts. Camera, light sensors and speakers in the upper part and processor and microphone in the lower part.

There is also another patent by Apple which includes a 360-degree screen which wraps entirely around a phone and smart glasses. Although the patent for the latest flexible display illustrates how it could be used with a phone, the language references any "electronic device." It's unknown as of now if there is an iPhone flip phone in the works, but there's certainly an interest in the old school category, as written in CNN Tech.

Current iPhone, iPhone 7 Plus is 6.23×3.07 inch because of which many users complain that it is not fitting in pockets. Maybe that's why Apple has been planning for this. They also dropped 3.5mm headphone jack this time.
