After a long wait, fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief that the long-awaited 29th season of The Amazing Race finally has been given a premiere date!

While we'll still have to wait until 2017 to see Phil Keoghan and a new batch of racers as they travel around the world and complete tasks in the hope of winning $1 million, it won't have to be until Summer, or worse, even longer, to see the new season, as it will officially premiere on Friday, April 21 at 8 p.m., one week after MacGyver finishes up its freshman run.

Added to the good news, the premiere will also be two hours long, meaning twice the Amazing Race for fans who have been suffering without their favorite show the last few months.

The lack of both a show and news about it has been frustrating for fans, who have pleaded with Phil Keoghan on social media for any answers he could provide them, but have found no success there either, with him telling fans repeatedly that he also had no idea when it would be back.

Because it didn't receive a home on the fall schedule there has also been very little revealed in terms of what the season will ential of itself, though some things did leak through social media and spoiler sites.

Season 29 will be another which utilizes a theme and has a gimmick to the teams, something the show did in seasons 26 and 28, when they had a couples themed group with five on blind dates set up by producers, and social media stars respectively. This season will start with single member teams completing a specific task, and then being paired off afterwards due to the place they finished during the first task.
