Golden State Warriors, Steve Kerr admitted that he tried using marijuana twice in the past 18 months to deal with the debilitating back pain. The reigning NBA coach of the year underwent two back surgeries last year that leads him almost to miss the first half of the 2015-16 campaign. The complications have caused him discomfort and pain.

According to Comcast SportsNet Bay Area's Warriors Insider Podcast, Kerr used marijuana as a medicine to relieve himself from back pain due to the subsequent surgeries he had last year. He admitted that he smoked weed to treat the pain while on the process of recovering from the two back operations.

Kerr said that he tried experimenting with the new drug many times to help him recover and overcome the chronic back pain over the last two seasons. His decision to used weed was in hopes of fixing the health issue which kept him off the Golden State sideline for almost the entire first half of the 2015-16 campaign.

"I guess maybe I can even get in some trouble for this, but I've tried it twice during the last year and a half when I've been going through this chronic pain that I've been dealing with," Kerr said.

The 51-year-old reigning NBA coach of the year has missed the first 43 games in the last season. The team's record 24-0 started while Kerr was on a leave of absence due to the complications he had from his two back surgeries.

According to NYDailyNews, the spinal leak fluid leak led to terrible headaches, nausea, and neck pain which left Kerr feeling frustrated and down. Furthermore, Kerr said that he had tried taking several types of painkillers, yet none of those have helped him avoid the pain.

"I don't even know if I'm subject to a drug test or any laws from the NBA, but I tried it, and it didn't help at all. But it was worth it because I'm searching for answers on pain," Steve Kerr added.

NBA's rules are much more lenient regarding marijuana than the NFL. Commissioner Adam Silver said that the league has significant concerns than drug testing players of any substance.
