The Christmas season is upon us, and luckily Netflix has numerous titles in its selection centered on the December holiday that you can watch right now.

Unlike any other holiday, there is a Christmas movie out there for every type of person. Whether you want to feel the pure joy of the Christmas season or you're feeling a bit melancholy or cynical, there is truly a movie out there for everyone.

Netflix's selection of Christmas titles is no different, with romantic comedies, nostalgic classics, adult-themed laugh riots and family-friendly animation. Here are our five best picks for Christmas movies on Netflix you can enjoy by yourself, with friends or with family:

Love Actually (2003)

Love Actually has gradually become a Christmas classic since its release in 2003. The film follows the intersecting lives of various couples in England as they prepare for Christmas. Starring Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Laura Linney, EmmaThompson, Alan Rickman, Keira Knightley, Rowan Atkinson, Bill Nighy and Martine McCutcheon.

Miracle on 34th Street (1994)

We included Miracle on 34th Street on our Thanksgiving Netflix list, but it's even more appropriate for Dec. 25. The film, a remake of the 1947, centers on a wide-eyed girl who teams up with a lawyer to convince others that Santa Claus is real. The movie stars Richard Attenborough as Kris Kringle himself, and co-stars Elizabeth Perkins, Dylan McDermott and young Mara Wilson.

Scrooged (1988)

For those who like Christmas movies with a little bit of edge, Scrooged is one of the better choices in Netflix's collection. The film is a modern retelling of A Christmas Carol, with Bill Murray playing a cynical TV executive who is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.

White Christmas (1954)

The holiday season wouldn't be complete without the classic White Christmas. The film stars Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye as entertainers who fall in love with a musical sister act (Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen) and help save their former commanding general's inn from failing. The film features a new version of Crosby's iconic song "White Christmas".

Saving Santa (2013)

The most family-friendly movie in this list, Saving Santa is a relatively new animated movie in which an elf tries to save the North Pole form being invaded by using time travel.
