Final Fantasy 7 Remake and other special edition announcements are expected during the 30th anniversary set to kick off with opening ceremony in January.

It is quite hard to believe that one of the most popular role playing game series, Final Fantasy, will be officially 30 years old. The franchise itself will officially turn 30 next year.To commemorate the milestone event, Square Enix has announced that it will be holding a big event that will celebrate all the progress and achievements that the franchise has accomplished over the years.

According to Gematsu, via Rpgfan, the celebration itself will be taking place on the Jan. 31 and will be held at the Toho Cinemas in Ropponig Hilld, Tokyo, Japan. The event has been dubbed as the "Opening Ceremony" of the anniversary celebration. This is an indication that it might just be the start of several other Final Fantasy-related events to be held throughout the year.

The event is expected to feature some special guests including people who have worked on the franchise throughout the three decades that it has been around. The exclusive event has also been revealed to be open to registered members of Square Enix Japan.

The company however warned that they will only have 200 slots available. So, members have to make their reservations immediately if they want to take part in the festivities.

It is also not a coincidence that Jan. 31 is the same day that Final Fantasy 7 was release in Japan 20 years ago. With Square Enix currently developing the remake of the classic video game, reports are claiming that an announcement regarding the game's development status may be part of the program.

A report from cheatcc also speculates that Square Enix may announce a special edition Final Fantasy anniversary collection. It could include several Final Fantasy video games packed into a single disc.

As of the moment, Square Enix hasn't yet announced the details of what will be going down during the event but fans are expecting great things for the franchise. These include more details on Final Fantasy 7 Remake and other great things.

The last installment in the highly popular franchise, Final Fantasy 15, was released last month. The game, which is available on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, has received immensely positive reviews and is a commercial success.
