The filming of Game of Thrones Season 7 is in full swing and many faces that audiences saw in Season 6 would be back except one. Sam Tarly's brother Dickon Tarly will not be the same when he returns to Horn Hill.  Freddie Stroma, who played the character, has said that he will not be coming back due to other commitments.

Freddie Stroma, who essayed Dickon Tarly, is engaged in ABC's Time After Time where he plays author H.G. Wells. Thus, would not be appearing in Game of Thrones Season 7 when the HBO series returns this year in summer, reports Cinema Blend.

The actor revealed in an interview that he was shooting for the ABC show and thus, would not be able to go back now. However, Stroma did admit that it was fun and he got to be in the world of Westeros. He said that he has watched all of it and it is just an incredible TV show.

In related news, it is being said that actor Tom Hopper would be replacing Stroma and play Dickon in Game of Thrones Season 7, claims Winter Is Coming. According to the website, Hopper was previously reported to be on board as Dickon but Season 6 saw Stroma in the role.

However, now that Stroma has confirmed that he is not coming back, it is said that Hopper has been roped in to essay the character. Though HBO has not confirmed his casting yet, signs do point towards his entry.

Notably, Stroma appeared as Dickon Tarly in Season 6 in just one episode and that too for a few minutes. But it did feel like that he was somebody who would be around for some more episodes in the next seasons.

When Sam snuggled out with the family sword, everyone knew that dad Randyll Tarly would be coming back to settle scores. And Dickon, being his favorite, too seemed to be on the list.

It is worth mentioning here that Tom Hopper replacing Freddie Stroma is not unusual for Game of Thrones. Other characters like Daario, Myrcella, Tommen have also undertaken the same route.
