Samsung Electronics recently delivered the Android 7.0 Nougat to its Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge handsets. Now, the South Korean tech company will reportedly roll out a similar firmware upgrade to its Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Tab A and other handsets soon.

According to International Business Times, the Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Tab A with S Pen, Galaxy Tab S2 (LTE unlock), Galaxy A3, and Galaxy A8 devices are all eligible for the Android 7.0 Nougat update. Based on Samsung Electronics' press release, the said handsets are scheduled to obtain the firmware upgrade during the first half of 2017.

Nevertheless, the South Korean smartphone manufacturer has not detailed a specific timeline for the roll out schedule of each device. But then, the older flagships like the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5 devices are the first one to receive the Nougat update. It was also noted that naturally, Samsung begins sending new software to unlocked handsets, with carrier models upgrading later, upon network approval.

Furthermore, Phone Arena noted that in early December tech enthusiast saw Nougat-powered Galaxy Note 5 make an appearance on the benchmarking service GFXBench. With this, it was predicted that the device might be the first one to receive the Android Nougat.

It was also reported that this is the first official confirmation that the older flagships will get the taste of Nougat. Nevertheless, when it comes to the tablets and the Galaxy A3 on the list, there are many different models. It can be remembered that Samsung Electronics has released different A3 models for 2015, 2016, and 2017, yet it has failed to identify which of the three devices will get updated to Nougat.

Moreover, there is no word on whether Samsung still hosts beta programs for the other devices that will update to Android Nougat. With this, it is advised for the users of the above-mentioned devices to keep an eye for further announcements.
