A Houston-based rapper is making headlines but they aren't because of his music.

Lil' Flip, whose real name is Wesley Eric Weston, has been indicted on the charge of drug possession, according to The Associated Press.

Navarro County District Attorney R. Lowell Thompson stated on Friday that the 32-year-old rapper  had codeine, a type of opiate, in his possession. The drugs were found back in 2012, after the rapper was stopped by police for driving over the speed limit in Texas.

The rapper hasn't made positive headlines in quite a while. In April, Lil' Flip didn't make it to his court hearing, which led to a warrant for his arrest, according to Complex.

He hasn't released too much music either. His last album was titled Ahead of My Time and it came out in 2010.

His sophomore album, U Gotta Feel Me, is his most successful to date and it debuted at No.4 on the Billboard charts and has gone platinum in the U.S., according to Billboard. The album also includes his most notable single. The song Sunshine, featuring singer Lea, reached No. 2 on Billboard in 2004. The song had the popular chorus, "Sunshine, I can call you my baby boy, you can call me your baby girl, maybe we can spend some time," making it a summer hit that year.

While the rapper hasn't released an album in three years, he has been touring.

"I will be performing live in Houston Saturday May 18th," he wrote on Twitter on May 9 promoting his show.

Tweets that followed show that the rapper also performed in Colorado and New Mexico.

Despite Friday's news, the rapper is still scheduled to perform on Saturday, May 24 in Iowa.
