Action flick Fast & Furious 6 conquered the first day of Memorial Weekend's box office in the United States, followed by The Hangover Part III and Star Trek Into Darkness.

Fast & Furious 6 earned $38.2 million during it's opening day Friday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The action movie starring Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson, has received mixed reviews from film critics. According to the reviews aggregation site, Rottentomatoes.com, the film has only 73 percent of positive reviews, compared to 87 percent of positive reviews for Star Trek into Darkness and 78 percent of positive critics for Iron Man 3, among other films in that genre.

"Ludicrous, but undeniably fun and surprisingly affectionate, this is really all you could ask of a car crash movie, and more," wrote CNN's film critic Tom Charity.

"For their own part, Vin Diesel and the 'F&F' handlers seem eager to assert how they've molded a series of installments into, yep, a saga, complete with expansive, twisty continuity," Tom Russo from the Boston Globe, wrote.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fast and Furious 6 is estimated to earn $119.3 million during the entire weekend, the franchise's best and one of the top performers for Memorial Day holiday ever.
