There might be tension behind the scenes at Today, with the arrival of Megyn Kelly.

Kelly will be an anchor on The Today Show soon, while co-host Tamron Hall has elected to not renew her contract with the show. Kelly's upcoming stint on the morning show apparently has some of the other anchors nervous.

"The anchors are threatened by Megyn," a source close to the show told Us Weekly this week. "But the decision to bring her on was made above all their heads."

Meanwhile, NBC said in a statement that they were disappointed that Hall was choosing to leave.

"Yesterday was her last day as an anchor on both [NBC News and MSNBC]," the network said. "Tamron is an exceptional journalist, we valued and enjoyed her work at Today and MSNBC and hoped that she would decide to stay. We are disappointed that she has chosen to leave, but we wish her all the best."

However, another source claimed that NBC wasn't exactly "fighting that hard" to keep Hall. "They see Megyn as more valuable."

This is all an effort to make things a little more fair and "more balanced with liberal and conservative voices," says the first source, and it "will appeal to more people."

Regardless of how NBC may feel, Hall was grateful to have the opportunity to work with the network for 10 years.

"The last ten years have been beyond anything I could have imagined, and I'm grateful," she said in her own statement. "I'm also very excited about the next chapter. To all my great colleagues, I will miss you and I will be rooting for you."

The configuration of which anchors will be in which hour going forward is not yet clear.
