"The Flash" could show a much more improved Wally West, with Barry Allen training him for a critical mission. The actor behind the character admits that there definitely is a lot on the plate of the speedster, which he, himself, feels passionate over.

After becoming Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale), Wally kept discovering the true extent of his powers and at one point has even surpassed that of The Flash (Grant Gustin). However, great power always comes an even grander task, which in this case, stopping the death of Iris West (Candice Patton) by the hands of the God of Speed, Savitar. Barry realizes that he may not be fast enough to stop this event, concluding that Wally may be able to do so.

According to Variety, Wally was appointed by Barry to do the deed and get to Iris, which Wally did not turn down. This is certainly a burden to live by for Wally, but his passion on becoming a speedster drives him to accept this great trial. Lonsdale explained the aforementioned, adding that Wally's confidence will play a vital role in the mission that The Flash will pass on to him.

The relationship between The Flash and Kid Flash also grew stronger, according to Lonsdale. Despite the rigid and intense training with a bit of competition in between, Barry is said to believe in Wally's ability even more now, being closer friends than how they once were. The question also on how Iris is starting to lose hope for her own life emerged, becoming less concerned of her own welfare as she believes that she will die in a few months.

"Yeah, he's not down for it. Iris is good at reading and manipulating her brother. He can see what she's going through, but at the same time he can be easily distracted and she knows that. She's presenting herself in a certain way so he doesn't see how vulnerable she is," Lonsdale explained on behalf of Kid Flash.
