Nicki Minaj may have a lot to catch up on this year, as the hip-hop star was recently reported on having lost a fortune worth of jewelry. Such tragic event may have come at the worst time, as 2016 did not end quite well for the "Anaconda" singer.

The charismatic Nicki Minaj is undeniably one of the most recognized stars of today's generation, and with her success is an apparent financial triumph. Without any disclosed suspects to date, the case is still an open book for the time being, but with a calculated amount of losses.

According to a report from Billboard, the gigantic mansion of Nicki Minaj was broken into between the periods of November 24, 2016 all the way to January of this year. Sadly, the 34-year-old artist was not home at the time of the break-in, with the thieves taking an approximate of $175,000. Another bad part is the property damage that was induced in the area.

As per TMZ, the 11,500 square-foot residential estate was trashed massively on the inside, counting with it some furniture that were turned over. Some personal belongings of Nicki Minaj were also wrecked, such as her picture frames, clothes and perfume bottles. So far, no motives or leads have been iterated by the authorities just yet.

With 2016 not showing a good conclusion to the "Starships" singer, things are still pretty shaky for Minaj. It was reported by US Magazine that she recently split with Meek Mill, her man of a supposedly two-year relationship. Minaj justified that she was indeed single, taking her statements to Twitter. "To confirm, yes I am single. Focusing on my work & looking forward to sharing it with you guys really soon. Have a blessed New Year. Love u," the artist posted last January 5.

For now, fans of Nicki Minaj can hope only for the best. The artist has not released any statements as to who may have caused the break-in.
