‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ News: ABC Still Considering Season 5; President Bullish About Renewal

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 4 will be over in some time and till now ABC has not made any announcement about "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 5. ABC is still weighing the potential of the series and, Season 4 may also turn out to be the last season.

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 5 is in limbo as of now but ABC has to decide by mid-May if it will return for the 2017-18 TV season, TVLine claims. The Marvel series has seen really good days on television and the current season has been received well by critics too. It is, in fact, the most creative season. The plan to span three distinct arcs has been working in its favor. The Aida/LMDs storyline did a good job of picking up the Darkhold.

However, the future of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 5 depends on a good deal on the ratings and as far as Season 4 is concerned, it has averaged 0.8 demo rating which shows a drop of 33% compared to last year. When "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 4 premiered in September last year, the total viewers stood at 3.439 million which is a stark contrast when compared to the thirteenth episode that clocked a total of 2.084 million.

Meanwhile, ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey had said that she is very bullish about "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 5, Screen Rant claimed. In an interview, she revealed that she is excited about the production with Marvel, ABC Studios, and IMAX. Dungey also expressed admiration for the way "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 4 had fared.

She said that the team was incredibly encouraged as "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 4 had proven to be the strongest season in terms of creativity. According to her, the episodes just kept getting better and stronger. It was also a plus that they moved from 9 to 10 and though HUD levels are softer at 10, the live-same-day for "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 4 remained the same.Well, this does offer hope but it remains to be seen if ABC will give the green signal to "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 5 in May.
