New rumors are floating around that the new Macbook Pro and Macbook Air will be released to consumers in 2013.

The laptops are expected to have new Intel Haswell processors as well as higher retina display.

The new models are also expected to have higher WiFi speeds, though that information has not yet been confirmed.

The new processor chip is expected to "double the graphics performance for laptops," and provide for "50 percent more battery life . . . than did their 'Ivy Bridge' predecessors."

The Haswell processor is also being designed for tablets, such as the iPad and the iPad mini.

There is also speculation that the new processor will be able to be installed into current Pro and Air models, giving them the same WiFi boost and increased battery life as the new models.

On Thursday, Apple slashed the price of the 13-inch MacBook Pro to $999 for educational customers. The price drop coincides with their unveiling of the new 16GB iPod touch with 4-inch Retina display. The device has a $229 price tag.

Apple CEO Tim Cook fielded questions at the All Things Digital Conference on Tuesday and revealed more details of the company's future plans.

He noted that while Google Glass does not appeal to the mainstream market, he finds wearable gadgets "profoundly interesting."

On branching into the television market, Cook said, "I don't want to go into detail, as you might have guessed, but it continues to be an area of great interest for us. When you look at the TV experience, it's not an experience that I think many people love. It's not an experience that's been brought up to this decade."

It is predicted that Apple will unveil their new line of laptops and tablets at this year's Worldwide Developers Conference, which runs from Monday, June 10 through Friday, June 14 in San Francisco.
