It's hard to believe that 20 years ago, we were introduced to the four teenagers that would redefine friendship, love, and what it meant to be a teen in 90s.

Dawson's Creek aired on the WB network and won the hearts of everyone. Every teenage girl wanted to live next door to Dawson, have Jenn's beauty, be as witty as Joey's, and secretly hock up with Pacey.

The show that starred James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams, Joshua Jackson, Kerr Smith, Meredith Monroe, and Busy Philipps, still remains a cult classic that 90s babies rewatch over and over again.

As the cast and crew celebrate the show's 20th anniversary, here are some fun facts about the series.

Michelle Williams And Busy Philipps Are Real Life Besties

Williams played the vivacious Jen Lindley who was a natural-born rebel and was the new girl in town, she captured the heart of every boy in town, particularly Dawson. Philipps' character, Audrey Liddell, was her equal, and had a wild relationship with Pacey. It's not much of a shock that the two blonde beauties bonded on set and became real life BFFs. Both are still close and Philipps is the godmother of Williams' daughter, Matilda.

Katie Holmes Dated A Costar

But it wasn't James Van Der Beek. Holmes dated Joshua Jackson while on set who she also called her "first love".

Joey Almost Ended Up With Dawson

At the end of the series, Joey picked Pacey to spend the rest of her life with, a decision that devastated team Dawson fans. The show's creator, Kevin Williamson, recently spoke on his decision to put Joey and Pacey together, even though he wasn't too happy with.

"I wanted it to be a twist on the teen genre but also wanted it to be surprising, honest and real and say something about soul mates and what soul mates can be," Williamson stated.

There Was A Spinoff

It was short-lived and canceled after one season, but the show was based on the life and experiences of Pacey's friend, Will Krudski. The show was called, Young Americans and starred Ian Somerhalder and Kate Bosworth.

Jenn's Tragic Death Needed To Happen

Williamson stated that Jen's death was the final piece of true adulthood the friends needed to face. Jen passed away during the series finale and left behind a beautiful daughter, Amy, who was left to her godfather, Jack.

A Different Dawson And Joey?

Selma Blair auditioned for the role of Joey, and Joshua Jackson almost played the role of Dawson. Imagine if that really did happen!
