Samsung showed off their new Galaxy S4 Mini yesterday at a London launch party for the little sibling of the intrepid Galaxy S4.

The Galaxy S4 Mini will most likely be marketed as a midrange phone, according to CNET. At 4.9 inches in length and weighing 3.7 ounces, the S4 Mini does prove to be both smaller and lighter than its 5.38 inch, 4.59 ounce predecessor. Featuring the same design elements as a full size S4, the real difference comes into play with the Mini's technical specs.

Outfitted with a 8-megapixel camera, the Mini drops from the original S4's 13-megapixel camera, according to CNET. However, the phone does include a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera although it does not have a duel-shot mode to utilize two cameras at once.

When you're viewing photos, the S4 Mini has a qHD Super AMOLED screen with 256ppi as compared to the S4's 441ppi, according to Trusted Reviews. As for storing photos and other information, only about 5GB of the 8GB storage will be open for use. For users who need more storage space, the phone is equipped with a microSD slot which can hold another 64GB.

The Mini will be powered by a 1,900mAh battery and run off a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, according to PC Mag. LTE capable phones will most likely be offered in areas that support the system, reports CNET. The site also reports that the phone comes with an IR blaster, giving it the added capability to change your TV channels.

Pricing has not been announced for the United States.
