Smallville Actress Allison Mack Released On $5M Bond In Sex Trafficking Case

Smallville actress Allison Mack, accused of being a "master" in the sex cult Nxivm, has been released from federal custody after posting a $5 million bond.

The 35-year-old walked out of the court in Brooklyn on Tuesday after Judge Viktor Pohorelsky and her team reached to an agreement, though Mack is certainly not off the hook. She will be monitored as she goes home to her parents' house in California, as she awaits trials.

Mack was arrested last week for sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy, and forced labor conspiracy. Her legal team tried to plea for bail last week, though the judge refused after saying the amount they offered was insufficient for such case. The Nxivm's leader, Keith Raniere, who was arrested in Mexico last month, is still under investigation. Both of them pleaded not guilty.

Agreement

One of the agreements between Mack's team and the judge is that the actress has to wear a GPS anklet. She was ordered not to contact other members of the sex cult as well. Suspected members are Nicki Clyne, Mack's wife, liquor heiress Clare Bronfman, and Catherine Oxenberg's daughter, India.

Apart from this, Mack is not allowed to leave their house, except during times when she needs to go to Brooklyn for court appearances. She is not permitted to use the internet as well. Of the whopping bail, it was her mom, Melinda, who secured the amount from their properties and a retirement account.

Recruitment

Disturbing details started barraging the internet the past week after Mack's arrest. She was regarded as a "master" of the Nxivm, which was masked as a mentorship group. As one of the higher-ranking officials of the organization, she recruits women who will later be sex slaves.

It was also believed that she has a sexual relationship with Raniere. Mack's recruitment isn't solely done for free, as it was reported that she gets money in exchange of her efforts. The newly recruited members had to surrender a "collateral," something that could damage their reputation such as nude photos. The collateral would be made public once they tell on the secret sex cult.

The slaves would be forced to be branded in the pelvic region by a cauterizing pen. But little did they know that they were branded with Raniere's initials. Mack's role has become vital for the group to grow in numbers. She also "prepares" members and instructs them to be celibate, until such time they will sleep with the leader.
