The 37th annual Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks is finally here. The nation's largest fireworks display will be launched from four barges in the Hudson River just off midtown Manhattan. The show starts around 9:20 p.m. EST. Lasting 25 minutes, the display is made up of more than 40,000 "effects" -- 1,800 shells a minute.  

Here are a list of some of the places to watch fireworks in the New York area for the 4th of July.

Where to Watch: 

In Manhattan, the go-to zone is from 24th Street to 59th Street on the West Side Highway, and selected access streets; check macys.com for more info. In addition, an river-facing rooftop decks, rooftop bars and high-rise patios are also prime spots. 

If you are a New Jersey resident, Weehawken and Hoboken are good options to view the Macy's fireworks seeing as Liberty State Park's and the Jersey City's fireworks are canceled. 

Best Rooftop Views in New York:

Sky Room Times Square, the city's highest rooftop lounge, offers a place to watch and a picnic buffet for $100 (330 W. 40th, 212-380-1195, skyroomnyc.com). 

Plunge Bar and Lounge, at the Meatpacking District's Gansevoort hotel offers a 360-degree view of the NYC skyline and Hudson River.
