Christmas is a great time to try on different holiday lip trends, but forget not to protect your skin and keep them hydrated with pucker-worthy lip balms. Not all lip balms are created alike. There are lip balms that can do more harm than good on the thin, sensitive skin on our lips.

Scouring the internet through hundreds of lip balms in all tints and additives made us search for the top five lip balms and share them with you, our dear readers.

Our Non-Negotiables

What to look for in lip balms? First off, you should be able to read all the ingredients without trouble. Natural and organic lip balms should not contain chemicals that are hard to read in the first place.

But what is the difference between natural and organic lip balms? Natural lip balms should contain only plant or mineral oils. Organic lip balms go the extra mile by making sure there are no synthetic ingredients and pesticides used on the ingredients.

So, definitely no parabens and synthetic preservatives. Also, we do not want drying ingredients like alcohol and camphor. Neither do want artificial colors and fragrances.

Cliganic Organic Lip Balm Set of 6

Our go-to has been these pocket-size travel lip balms because one, it is USDA-certified organic. It has no phthalates, parabens, and all those nasty chemicals.

We like this cruelty-free lip butter. Our favorite Organic Lip Balm Set by Cliganic comes in a set of 6 so there are plenty of options that you can also share with your friends.

The holidays are the perfect time to buy this set which is set at a really affordable price. Choose for your mood with their Coconut Lip Balm, Vanilla Lip Balm, or Beeswax Balm.

Cliganic also has Citrusy and Minty Balms like Eucalyptus Mint and Burst.

The Drugstore Buy

Here is a lip balm brand that needs no introduction. You have probably been handed one by your mum or a friend. Burt's Bees 100% Natural Moisturizing Lip Balm is one you can buy in a value pack and have all the same kinds of lip balm. If you like to stick to one kind of balm then get this in bulk.

The Vegan Alternative

For your friends who are strictly going vegan, even beeswax would not sound like something fun to put on your lips. So, we like to give our vegan friends Kopari Coconut Lip Glossy. So yes, none of the chemicals as promised and cruelty-free.

Plus, vegan means no animal byproducts so no beeswax whatsoever. It does contain coconut oil and shea butter to moisturize dry lips.

The Minimalist Lip Balm

If the simplest things satisfy you then opt for this olive oil-infused balm called the Olio E Osso Balm. Keep it in your bag to use anytime the weather gets too harsh.

One thing though, we are not too keen on the oversized applicator. It is not really designed to be used on the lips alone.

You can use it on elbows and nails to keep them soft too. Just make sure to use a clean spatula instead of directly on the skin and lips to be more hygienic.

The Healing Balm

If Dr. Bronner's soap for your hair, body, teeth, laundry, and household cleaning is too much for you, then try their lip balm.

We are glad to see this brand come up with Dr. Bronner's Organic Lip Balm. It is also USDA-certified organic and cruelty-free. You can choose the Naked Balm that is flavorless and odor-less or go for Peppermint, Lemon Lime, or Orange Ginger for a fresh scent.
