Hayden Panettiere is on the receiving end of criticisms after she skips Thanksgiving with her family. The "Nashville" actress was instead seen with her boyfriend Brian Hickerson whom she previously had physical altercations with.

Hayden Leaves Family in Ukraine

Hayden was previously in a 9-year relationship with professional boxer Wladimir Klitschko. They share a 4-year-old daughter named Kaya Evdokia Klitschko.

The "Nashville" star was engaged for many years to Wladimir but their engagement was never made official through marriage. Their split in August 2018 was surrounded by controversy as Hayden was spotted back in the dating scene on the same month.

Hayden returned to the U.S. after her split with Wladimir with hopes of pursuing real estate and acting. She hooked up with real estate guy Brian Hickerson.

Wladimir and their daughter Kaya remained in the Ukraine. The ex-couple has since been co-parenting amicably albeit Kaya is to live permanently with the boxer, over 6,000 miles away from her mother.

Hayden Denies Domestic Abuse

In May, Brian was imprisoned over domestic abuse allegations made by Panettiere. He was released the next day on a $50,000 bond.

The "Bring It On" actress was spotted holding hands with Brian's brother Zach Hickerson in the aftermath of Brian's imprisonment.

However, Hayden has since dismissed the case against Brian. She has been seen back together again with her abusive boyfriend Brian. Her ex Wladimir reportedly thinks ill of Brian whom he thinks is "enabling Hayden's bad attitudes."

Furthermore, the actress' family has been said to have begged her to steer clear of Brian.

Hayden was recently caught by the press at the local airport where she revealed that "everything has always been A-ok" between her and Brian, as well as with her family.

The "Heroes" star also denied the domestic abuse issue saying what really happened was like a fight between a puppy and its owner.

Hayden Spends Thanksgiving with BF & His Friends

On Brian's locked Instagram account, he posted a photo on Thanksgiving day. He was with a few friends and his girlfriend, Hayden. It was captioned: "Great Thanksgiving with some good people." However, nowhere in sight was Hayden's daughter.

Hayden could not possibly have brought her daughter to the U.S. who remains under her father's custody. Moreover, Wladimir would not have allowed Kaya to visit Hayden with Brian present.

Hayden may have intentionally skipped celebrating the holidays with her daughter and ex fiancé.

Do Russians Even Celebrate Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving, being an American holiday is not celebrated in Ukraine. Neither do Russians celebrate Mother's Day or Father's Day, but they do make a big deal of International Women's Day.

Russians do not celebrate St. Patrick's Day or Columbus day either. However, they do celebrate Orthodox Christmas on Jan. 7 and Catholics living in Russia celebrate Christmas on Dec. 25.

As Kaya and her father are both Russians, they are not expected to celebrate the American tradition like Hayden does.

So, Hayden may have chosen to spend the American holiday with her boyfriend and his friends instead of her Russian ex and baby.

It is expected that the mum-of-one will fly miles to get to her daughter in time for Christmas, be it in December or January.
