Amanda Seyfried is opening about her "riskiest role yet" -- Lovelace -- and reveals why she chose to play real-life porn star-turned-activist Linda Lovelace.

In the August 2013 cover story, Seyfreid told ELLE that when she read the script, she thought, "Wow, this is the riskiest thing that's happening [in Hollywood] right now."

She said instead of looking at the downside of playing an adult film star, she weighed the positive benefits of taking on the role of the porn icon.

"The first thing you think about is that it could have ruined my career," Seyfried explained. "At the same time, I was like, 'This is my chance to show them, to show the industry, to be recognized.'"

The Les Miserables actress also discussed how fortunate she has been to have a sexual attraction in her relationships and why it's necessary.

"Everybody I've dated I've been sexually attracted to immediately," Seyfreid revealed and added that it's mental also. "Sparks don't grow. Your vagina doesn't become more inclined to wanting someone just because you're around them."

Seyfried plays the title character of Linda Boreman who reinvented herself and became Linda Lovelace, the star in the hit 1972 adult film Deep Throat. The biopic follows the tale of she began in the adult film industry, her rise to fame and how she turned against the business when she became a Christian. Lovelace's husband, pimp and manager, Chuck Traynor is played by Peter Sarsgaard.

James Franco also appears as Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, Sharon Stone, Adam Brody,Hank Azaria, Juno Temple, Chris Noth, Bobby Cannavale and Chloe Sevigny.

Lovelace will arrive in U.S. theaters on Aug. 9.
