Alternative folk band The Civil Wars released an online stream of their new self-titled album on Tuesday.

The Civil Wars is scheduled for release on Aug. 6, but iTunes is offering free streaming of the entire album a week before its release. It is the band's second album after their breakout 2011 debut, Barton Hollow.

The album features the band's first single, The One That Got Away. The song is an angry ballad, which finds members John Paul White and Joy Williams singing about how they wished the other was "the one that got away."

The duo cancelled their entire tour in Nov. 2012 due to "internal discord and irreconcilable differences of ambition." Neither member has elaborated on why their relationship deteriorated, but they expressed their desire to bring music to their fans in 2013.

The second single, Same Old Same Old, was released on Monday. The video for the single also debuted, and it features White and Williams singing and playing their guitars.

"Same Old Same Old, to me, represents the ache of monogamy," Williams explained on the band's website. "This isn't an 'I'm leaving you' song. It's a vulnerable confession of 'I don't want to leave. I want to work on this with you.'"

Williams said that she wanted fans to "feel the heart in each song, that it might connect with yours.

"We are, each one of us, all journeying, learning and growing along this ever-evolving path," she said of the album's theme.

The Civil Wars broke through as a mainstream band in 2012 after collaborating with Taylor Swift on the song Safe & Sound for The Hunger Games soundtrack. The group won a Grammy in 2013 for their collaboration with Swift in the Best Song Written for Visual Media category.
