Ben Stiller, Estranged Wife Reconcile After 5 Years of Separation [Details]

Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor have reconciled nearly five years after their separation.
In an interview with Esquire, the Night at the Museum actor, 56, said that he and Christine, 50, patched things up during the epidemic.
The celebrity revealed that the pair chose to reunite during the pandemic in order for him to be able to see his two children as the world was in a lockdown. The agreement benefited both stars, and the two began reconciling.
"We were separated and got back together and we're happy about that," Stiller told the magazine. "It's been really wonderful for all of us. Unexpected, and one of the things that came out of the pandemic," he added.
Stiller then used a horseback riding analogy to convey how his views on marriage have evolved over the last few years. "A few years ago, I realized I don't like horseback riding. If there's an opportunity to go horseback riding, I'm probably not going to do it. Now, I like horses! I think they're beautiful. I like petting them," he said.
He added he love seeing people ride horses, especially his own children. He simply does not enjoy horseback riding and once that is understood, everything just fell into place.
While this analogy might be unclear to some, what he just wanted to point out was that as a married couple, they just have to respect the ways they are and are not similar. Just by accepting that can make a person appreciate another because there's no need to change anyone. He said understanding that saves a lot of energy.
Ben Stiller and his wife separated in 2017 after 17 years of marriage. The couple issued a statement at the time expressing their desire to remain friends.
"With tremendous love and respect for each other and the 18 years we spent together as a couple, we have made the decision to separate," the statement they released at the time read. They assured fans that they would continue to raise their children as devoted parents and as close friends. They also asked the media to respect their privacy.
The two met on the set of a television pilot for a show called "Heat Vision and Jack" in 1999. The next year, they married.
Ella, 19, and Quinlin, 16, are the couple's children.
Maybe soon they'll share what happened during the pandemic that made them see they can make their relationship work again.
