On Thursday, in the midst of the unfolding Ukraine-Russia crisis, John Cena found himself in a hot tub of water.

The 44-year-old actor-turned-wrestler seems to have exploited the Russian invasion of Ukraine to promote his HBO Max program "Peacemaker" on Twitter, sparking a massive outcry.

"If I could summon the abilities of a real-life #Peacemaker, I believe today would be an excellent moment to do so," he brazenly tweeted about his eponymous DC superhero character on the series during the dispute. The character made his movie debut in 2021's "The Suicide Squad," and may be defined as a fearless hero who will use all means necessary to achieve peace.

Cena's speech went viral swiftly as his fans condemned his "insensitive" remarks.

Users reacted angrily to the tweet, with one adding, "I'm simply stating that there is never a suitable time to say this, particularly now."

Some pointed out Peacemaker is not even a good guy in the superhero universe.

"Great time to hashtag your show for trending purposes very insensitive don't you think?" another asked. "John, this is in poor taste. Also your character is not the good guy," wrote another.

Another advocated for Cena to utilize his own riches and resources to aid Europe's warring countries. Instead of summoning a fake character's powers, he can actually use his own means to really make a difference now.

"I hope you didn't mean to come off as disrespectful by using this to promote your show," they wrote. "You don't have the powers of peacemaker but you do have the power of money and status. Please donate to help Ukraine or spread the link to donate."

More cannot be as diplomatic as that commenter though. They really went for John Cena, slamming his ignorance and insensitivity.

"A bit tone deaf @JohnCena. Please delete. [This is from] a conversation I'm in: Families have literally been blown to pieces in Ukraine. Meanwhile Cena, 'I AM A COMIC BOOK ACTOR, IF MY CHARACTER WAS REAL, I WOULD STOP IT FROM HAPPENING,' " a fan explained.

"I feel like I shouldn't have to explain this to you but the power of peacemaker is murdering people," another pointed out to him. It remains to be seen if he'll apologize or delete this tweet. As of now, it's still there.

This is not the first time Cena has come under fire for his stance on foreign policy. He faced backlash in May 2021 for kowtowing to the Chinese Communist Party on a promotional tour for the ninth movie of the "Fast & Furious" franchise. At the time, he apologized to China in Mandarin for referring to Taiwan as a country.

He said that he was now engaged in promotional activities for "'Fast & Furious 9" and while doing his interviews, he committed a mistake. He then clarified that he has great love for China and Chinese and wanted to apologize for the things he said. The celebrity actually did the apology in Mandarin.
