Ned Eisenberg, an actor, popularly known for playing the role of defense attorney Roger Kressley on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," has passed away at the age of 65.

According to a statement released by his wife Patricia, as reported by Variety, her husband was "attacked by two very rare assassins - cholangiocarcinoma and ocular melanoma."

Despite battling cancers over the past two years, the stage actor continued working in the TV industry to "ensure that his medical coverage paid for himself and his family."

Aside from her wife, Eisenberg's agents, Nicolosi & Co. also confirmed his death to The Hollywood Reporter, saying he passed away on Sunday at his home in New York.

Per Daily Mail UK, the screen actor was a native of the Big Apple and attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing arts to hone his acting skills.

The Bronx-born actor's first love was theatre arts as he first starred in the play "Brighton Beach Memoirs" by Neil Simmons.

He went on to take over numerous Broadway shows like "Awake and Sing!" "Golden Boy," "The Green Bird," and his most recent one, the revival of "Six Degrees of Separation."

Aside from Broadway, he also performed in some of the most famous theatres within the performing arts community like New York City Center, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Ensemble Studio Theatre, and more.

Prior to his death, his most recent acting gig was in "Mare of Easttown," where he starred alongside Kate Winslet.

The actor's career started to blossom when he appeared in the 1980 film "The Exterminator." Following this, many viewers have watched him on the big screen, including Clint Eastwood's "Million Dollar Baby" in 2004, "Flags of Our Fathers" in 2006, and many more.

According to IMBd, some of his most notable appearances in film and television were "Elementary," where he starred as Marvin Hathaway, "Bull" as Christopher Franklin, "Person of Interest" as Joseph Soriano, "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" as Lou Rabinowitz and many more.

His most notable role was in "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," where he played the character of Roger Kressler for over 24 episodes in the span of 20 years.

Ned Eisenberg was survived by his wife and his son, Lino.
