Shawn Mendes recently told up about the heavy scrutiny surrounding his romance and split from Camila Cabello.

The 23-year-old "Stitches" singer and the 22-year-old "A Cinderella Story" actress dated for over two years until calling it quits in November 2021.

While they were writing popular songs together, such as "Senorita," their love story became one of the key sources of interest for both of their fans.

However, in a new interview with Billboard, Mendes discussed how the overwhelming emphasis on his personal life has impacted him and his music.

When questioned if the public's interest in their relationship bothered him, the "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" hitmaker admitted, "I honestly don't care."

Shawn Mendes revealed that he has been focusing on his spirituality since his separation with Camila Cabello, which has helped him heal.

Mendes claimed that he meditates and discusses scripture with a well-known motivational speaker every Thursday.

"I think everyone has a point in their lives when they just realize it's time to do something else."

Now, the Canadian-born singer-songwriter has chosen to focus on spirituality, which has become a larger part of him than he previously admitted.

Shawn Mendes, as previously reported, recorded a song titled "It'll Be Okay" in January following his breakup with the "Havana" singer. Cabello, meanwhile, recently released "Bam Bam," a song about their breakup, last week.

'Bam Bam' by Camila Cabello

Camila Cabello revealed the underlying meaning of "Bam Bam," a song she co-wrote with Ed Sheeran, in an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music.

She described it as not knowing what could happen in an instant and being taken aback by the consequence.

"I wanted to develop a song that had English language but gave me that same sensation that these Latin songs give us," Cabello explained.

She went on to say about her ex-boyfriend, "For me, I love Shawn and I feel like there is nothing but love for him."

Why Did Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes Split?

A source said in January that their breakup was due to their hectic work commitments.

Because they spent the majority of their time together throughout the pandemic, things have finally taken a turn for the better, with limitations eased.

Despite the fact that the former couple dissolved their relationship mutually, they apparently have nothing but affection for each other and remain friends.
