Mark Wahlberg portrays former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell in the upcoming patriotic film Lone Survivor.

The movie, which was shot in New Mexico, is based on the 2005 ill-fated military mission called "Operation Red Wings". The assignment involved four members of SEAL Team 10 capturing a Taliban leader, Ahmad Shah. Luttrell, who received a Navy Cross for his efforts, was the only one to survive the mission.

The trailer released on Wednesday, illustrates details about the hunt for Shahid as well as the war in Afghanistan.

"I've been around the world twice, talked to everyone once. There ain't nothing I can't do. No sky too high, no sea too low. Learned a lot of lessons in my life," a Navy SEAL says in a voiceover. "Anything in life worth doing, is worth overdoing, moderation is for cowards."

The film also depicts the camaraderie amongst the SEALs. The catchphrase, "There are brothers that never leave your side," flashed across the screen.

In his portrayal of Luttrell, Wahlberg is heard telling his three fellow SEALs, "I care about you," as the four soldiers plot the dangerous mission.

When the actor discussed the movie with Philly's The Inquirer in January, Wahlberg called the mission "the worst tragedy in the history of the SEALs."

The 42-year-old also explained the difficulty he faced in portraying the war veteran.

"It was a physically demanding movie," he said. "And we felt a lot of responsibility in making sure that we did Marcus and those guys some justice."

Wahlberg also affirmed that Luttrell and other SEALs were present on set, while the movie was being filmed.

The film is based on Luttrell's book Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10.

Lone Survivor, which also stars Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster and Taylor Kitsch, arrives in U.S. theaters on Jan. 10, 2014.
