When all companies abandoned Johnny Depp after Amber Heard made damaging accusations against him, one company remained by his side.

The veteran actor was fired from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise by Disney, and he was barred from returning to the "Fantastic Beasts" property by Warner Bros.

Dior, on the other hand, persisted with the actor even when it appeared risky, and many fans were pleased.

Depp was even the face of the brand's Sauvage cologne, which perfectly fits the actor. He has been the fragrance's face since 2015.

According to the perfume's description, "In a world populated by old stories, where wolves are gods and men let their primal instincts speak... He becomes one with the desert, free of any artifice."

Dior has been "clever," according to an article posted by the Independent.

When many celebrities cry "cancel culture" for everyone who is brought to account for their actions or statements, Dior understood that controversy might also promote sales.

Johnny Depp Dior Salary

According to the Guardian, Johnny Depp was alleged to have gotten a salary of between $3 million and $5 million from Dior.

Following Amber Heard's domestic abuse allegations and Depp's libel battle against The Sun in 2020, Dior "not only continued their cooperation with Depp but also launched fresh commercials."

"Dior was canceled? Was Sauvage taken off the market? Nope. The fragrance's sales rose," According to the Independent.

"The New Elixr" ad was just released in Sept. 2021.

Dior Canceled Johnny Depp Advertisement

However, in 2019, Johnny Depp experienced outrage for his appearance in Dior's campaign ad for the perfume - this was unrelated to the allegations brought against him by his ex-wife.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Depp attracted criticism for presenting Native Americans in the advertisement in a way that resembled the disparaging term "savage."

Some people were offended because it encourages "stereotypes."

"We Are the Land" advertising features Depp playing guitar in the desert as co-star Canku One Star of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe performs a warrior dance while dressed in traditional Native American regalia and clothing.

Jean-Baptiste Mondino directed the commercial, which featured the actor's "search for meaning" into the "soul of native country" as an ode to "mother earth."

The original Sauvage ad was released in 2017.
