Disney has announced the release date for the Big Hero 6 spin-off Baymax! along with an adorable trailer.

The show will hit Disney+ on June 29, the first animated series for Walt Disney Animation Studios, based on the Marvel graphic novel, Big Hero 6, written by Man Of Action - a group of writers who created hit kids shows like Ben 10.

Big Hero 6 was a sleeper hit for Disney - having no attachments to the present MCU, while still technically claiming the Marvel name, the action-comedy was beloved by audiences. The story revolves around a kid scientist who creates an adorable robot sidekick, and teams up with other science-minded heroes to avenge the untimely death of his brother.

A cool one-off movie from the studio, hot on the heels of Frozen, it definitely deserved to be expanded upon.

Mind you, a Disney XD series was made from the property back in 2017, continuing the adventures of the team. This time, however, they seem to be giving us more of what we love from the bubble-bodied Baymax - now with a Johnny 5 from Short Circuit vibe (ask your grandparents), allowing the character to grow with each interaction.

The new series brings all of the sharp digital styles from the film adaptation, while retaining the cute Disney magic of the big-screen Baymax character - now a Doogie Howser type trying to learn what it is to be human.

To be honest, it works on so many levels.

Baymax! will begin streaming on Disney+ on June 29.
