This trend is continuing on with the highly-anticipated Baz Luhrmann-directed biopic, which is set to follow the life story of the one and only Elvis Presley.

The iconic role will be taken on by the incredible Austin Butler.

Butler became known through is work as a child star on Disney and Nickelodeon. Now, with the combined fame of the director and the subject matter, he is taking a major step into the serious spotlight.

In his interview with British GQ, which had his photograph on the cover, it was revealed that, like many great actors before him, Butler took to some unconventional means to get the starring role.

He sent the director a video of himself singing "Unchained Melody" while wearing a dressing gown. Lurhman shared that he wasn't sure whether it was, "an audition? Or was he having a breakdown?"

Either way, the bold choice captured Lurhman's attention, and inspired the director to call Butler in for the role.

Aside from studying animals to find the physicality of the role, an unconventional tactic that has been used by great actors of years past, Butler has also found many other strong footholds through which to connect to the King.

"His mother passed away when he was 23, and my mum passed away when I was 23...So when I learned that, it was one of those things where I got chills, and I just thought, Okay, I can connect to that."

We cannot wait to see Butler on the big screen taking on this incredible role.
