Drake would like the world to know that he was NOT, in fact, arrested in Sweden.

Yes, we will explain.

Sometimes the internet serves as a place for valuable information. Other times it operates like a very unsuccessful game of telephone where, almost instantaneously, a whisper of a thought becomes a world-wide mega-rumor - such as, oh...we don't know, if a rumor starts to spread that a famous rapper was arrested while in Sweden.

This is exactly what happened to Drake.

Here are the things that are confirmed to be true: Drake is in Sweden, and he was NOT arrested.

It is unclear how the speculation online began, but people on all walks of the internet started coming forward providing details on the alleged arrest of Drake.

Drake may have not released a song in 2020, but his creations continue to make waves in the music scene.

The communal consciousness concocted a story that Drake was arrested by police while he was out at a nightclub in Stockholm. The star's team confirmed with The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that this is not true.

How can we be sure? Well, he was home. The performer was back in his hotel room. (Introverts around the world will forever point to this as a reason that staying in is a good thing.)

Regardless of the truth of the rumor, Twitter went wild. The hashtag #freedrake started trending, and the posts are excellent. A large number of them consist of memes, gifs, and videos, captioned with phrases such as, "Drake returning to the US after getting arrested in Sweden," "Travis Scott pulling up to Sweden to free Drake rn," and, "Me on my way to free Drake out of jail."

Honestly, these Tweets are hilarious. Good job Twittersphere.

We are glad it all turned out to be a rumor, but, we must say, the rumor led to a pretty hilarious morning.
