According to Daily Mail UK, who obtained the legal documents, the actress filed to end their marriage in Los Angeles, California. She cited "irreconcilable differences" as to why she wanted to separate from her estranged husband.

Regarding where their children would stay after the breakup, Mowry requested for joint physical and legal custody of 11-year-old Cree and four-year-old Cairo.

In addition, the actress requested the judge to terminate the court's ability to award spousal support to both of them as they had a prenuptial agreement before they tied the knot, meaning all properties and assets are not considered conjugal property anymore.
