The veteran television producer of "Newhart" has passed away.

Stephen C. Grossman's Hollywood career ventures include producing television series in 1997 during his time at Mary Tyler Moore Enterprises, where he worked on numerous television shows including "The Betty White Show," "Mary" and "The Mary Tyler Moore Comedy Hour". He, later on, left the company in 1990.

After his time at Mary Tyler Moore Enterprises, Grossman became active at different production companies including Warner Bros., Paramount TV, Disney, and more. However, one of his most prominent projects includes his eight years as a coordinating producer on the CBS sitcom "Newhart" in the 1980s.

Prior to his career as a producer, Grossman started out as an actor playing understudy roles on Broadway. He also stage-managed at Circle in the Square Theatre and even got the chance to work for director Gil Cates.

Stephen Grossman's Tragic Cause of Death

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the veteran producer passed away in his home on Thursday from Coronavirus complications at the age of 76. His death was announced by his wife, Joan.

The late producer is survived by his wife of 53 years Joan, daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Spencer Burke, and his grandson Brenden. According to The Wrap, funeral services will be held at Groman Eden Mortuary in Mission Hills, California on Thursday, November 3rd.

Fans and Co-stars Pay Tribute to Late Producer

As a veteran producer, Stephen Grossman has certainly made a name for himself despite being in the back end of famed television titles. The late producer also served as a co-president of The American Association of Producers. During his time in the organization, he witnessed and played a key role in its merging with the Producer's Guild of America.

Following the tragic announcement, several celebrities have taken to social media to express their condolences on the loss of their former producer.

The star of "Newhart", actor Bob Newhart paid tribute to his producer and friend in a recent Twitter post. 

Notably, Stephen Grossman's other works included "George & Leo" (1997) and Baby Bob (2002). Grossman has also been of help to the PGA in overseeing the operation of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
