Jameela Jamil is speaking out about the harmful place that the exercise industry is in.

Actress, activist, and podcaster Jameela Jamil is taking a stand against the exercise industry in its current state. The star has spoken up loudly against body shaming and the negative impact that the weight loss industry has had on people's mental health. Now, she is bringing the exercise industry into the arena.

In an Instagram reel posted yesterday, Jamil shared a clip from an interview she had on The Daily Show. "I've made a big deal about the diet industry, I don't know if anyone heard," she joked, "and now I'm taking on the exercise industry because I feel like it's shagging the diet indsutry." In the caption to her post, she dove even deeper writing:

"IT'S MAY DAY! And in honor of the Move For Your Mind campaign we are building, I am going to be flooding my instagram with daily info about the MENTAL HEALTH benefits of movement. Doesn't have to be slick. You don't have to look sexy. Doesn't have to be for very long. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE TONED OR STRONG. We are all about finding joyous movement to help us sleep better and most important regulate our moods better.

"Will you join me in moving your body just a Little every day of May? It's mental health awareness month, and physical fitness month. It's the perfect way to celebrate the fact that we are TAKING exercise back!!! Stay tuned, stay ready, and together let's stay motivated to reclaim exercise."
