A former assistant of Kim Kardashian is shutting down rumors surrounding her firing from the reality star's company.

In an interview on "The Skinny Confidential Him & Her" podcast last month, Stephanie Shepherd made it clear that there were no hard feelings involved when she and Kardashian ended their working relationship years ago.

"Well, I got fired. Fired in the nicest sense of the word," she explained. "Like, I was crying, and she was crying because we are friends."

The 34-year-old went on to share that she stepped down from her role as the chief operating officer of Kardashian West Brands because she felt that it was time for her to move on and that she believed she had nothing more to contribute to the growth and development of the 43-year-old reality star's brand.

According to Shepherd, Kardashian understood and supported her decision to forge her own path.

"I think she probably felt that and saw that," Shepherd said of Kardashian. "[So] she's like, 'I want you to [thrive]. You need something more. You have this thing - pursue that. I'm supporting you [with] whatever you need.'"

She went on to praise Kardashian for how she approached the firing.

"It was the most beautiful uncoupling, and we have never been closer. She is still someone that I go to for personal and professional advice all the time," Shepherd explained in the podcast episode. "But I think it was just that feeling inside where I was like, 'OK, it's time for me to move on.' And I didn't really have a plan. But I just knew that it was time for me to try something different."

In 2017, Us Weekly reported that the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" alum decided to let Shepherd go after four years of working together.

An unnamed insider claimed to the outlet at the time that Kardashian ended their working relationship partly due to Shepherd's Refinery29 profile earlier that year.

The article, in which Shepherd discussed working for the shapewear mogul, allegedly caused some tension between the duo, with the source claiming that Kardashian was not happy that her ex-assistant had "started thinking she was a celebrity herself."

A second unnamed source, however, told Us Weekly at the time that there was no bad blood between Kardashian and Shepherd.

"Kim respects Steph and wants her to do well," the insider said.

In an August 2018 video with Shepherd, Kardashian clarified that she respected her former assistant's choice to "go in a different direction" and that they remain friends.

Shepherd echoed Kardashian's sentiments, sharing that they were still in contact "every week."

During her podcast interview, Shepherd also revealed some of the most important skills she learned from her time working with the "Kardashians" star.

Describing her time at Kardashian's company as her "graduate school," she said she learned "everything that I know about sending an email to an agent or speaking to a manager or booking glam or finding a photographer or dealing with product development or working with a publicist ... Every single step of everything that you have to know about being an entrepreneur in the entertainment business I learned from working under Kim."
