Since August, the reported date of expiration of BLACKPINK's exclusive contract with YG Entertainment, BLINKS - BLACKPINK fans - have been waiting for an update regarding the members' contract renewal.

However, in a statement shared by the entertainment company to various news outlets this week, including Sports Chosun, YG is still negotiating with its artists regarding the exclusive contracts.

This may not be good news to fans because it's almost the same update they've been getting from YG in the past months - that the label is still in discussion and has nothing to disclose or confirm.

However, this time, BLINKS now have an outlet to watch out for until the final announcement regarding BLACKPINK's contract renewal with its long-time label is revealed.

"The final outcome will be revealed through the document regarding major management issues related to investments," YG said in its latest statement.

In October, Korea's Business Post revealed that YG Entertainment will most likely give an update regarding the girl group's contract renewal in its third quarterly report, expected to be released in mid-November.

YG reportedly discloses the status of its artists' exclusive contracts during quarterly reports, semi-annual reports and business reports.

In other news, speculations about the BLACKPINK members finally renewing their contract made rounds online in mid-October when significant people from Columbia Records followed Jennie, Lisa, Rosé and Jisoo on their personal Instagram accounts.

Columbia Records President Jen Mallory and the record label's creative specialist Luis Gerardo Cárdenas followed all the BLACKPINK members on Instagram.

Meanwhile, the record label's digital marketing manager, Chika Ifediora, only followed Lisa's Instagram account.

At the time, some fans claimed that since YG previously collaborated with the American record label for TREASURE, the interactions between Columbia Records and the BLACKPINK members could signal that international activities for the group were in the works.

BLACKPINK debuted in August 2016 under YG Entertainment with its single album "Square One," which featured the group's first hit songs, "Whistle" and "Boombayah."

Before the group's reported contract expiration with its label, the quartet held its second world tour. "Born Pink" kicked off in Seoul in October 2022 and concluded in Seoul this September.

The BLACKPINK members performed sold-out concerts in Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania throughout their tour.
