Donald Trump showered his confident, "successful" and "very brilliant" wife Melania Trump with praise amid her absence from the campaign trail.

During a town hall with Fox News' Laura Ingraham in South Carolina Tuesday, the former president repeatedly emphasized that his wife is a "private person" after being asked if his "secret weapon" will appear at campaign events in the future.

Trump noted that despite being a "very, very successful" model, Melania doesn't like being in the limelight.

However, the current Republican presidential frontrunner hinted that Melania will make appearances in his 2024 presidential campaign in the coming days.

"She's going to be out a lot. Not because she likes doing it, but she likes the results," Trump said. "She wants to see this country really succeed. She loves the country."

Former U.S. President Donald Trump and former first lady Melania Trump arrive for a New Year's event at his Mar-a-Lago home on December 31, 2022 in Palm Beach, Florida.

The former president went on to note that Melania is a "very brilliant person" who "speaks many languages." He also shared what he believes sets Melania apart from other first ladies.

"You know, a lot of first ladies would go out -- they want to be everywhere," he told Ingraham. "They get angry at their husband because he's not introducing them. If I didn't introduce Melania, she'd be very happy about it. She's just a different kind of a person."

According to Trump, Melania has done a "beautiful job" raising their "very tall" son, Barron Trump, but also has the "success of our country" among her priorities.

"Her life evolves around that boy," Trump said of Melania and Barron. "It's so important to her. At the same time, it also revolves around our country and the success of our country. She's raised a lot of money for charity."

Trump once more emphasized that Melania is a private person but that she plans to join him on the road because she "loves the country."

"She's going to be out a lot, but she does it for the good of the country, not for her," he insisted. "She's somebody with a lot of confidence. She doesn't need that."

Last month, Trump also gave an update on Melania's involvement in his reelection campaign during a chat with Fox News' Brian Kilmeade.

He insisted that Melania will "play" a role in his campaign as she "wants to make America Great again, too."

The ex-POTUS described Melania as "very smart" and "very compassionate" and said he relies on her for advice.

"I think she's going to be very active in the sense of being active, at the same time, I don't want my family to be too active because they did such a great job last time," Trump said.

Earlier this month, Trump marked Valentine's Day with a message for Melania in a campaign email asking supporters for donations.

In the email, the former president thanked his wife for standing by him amid his legal woes.

"Dear Melania, I LOVE YOU. Even after every single INDICTMENT, ARREST and WITCH HUNT, you never left my side," Trump wrote. "You've always supported me through everything. I wouldn't be the man I am today without your guidance, kindness, and warmth."

"You will always mean the world to me, Melania! From your husband with love, Donald J. Trump," he concluded his message.

Aside from attending the campaign launch in November 2022, Melania has mostly steered clear of the campaign trail.

However, last year, she gave a rare interview to express support for her husband's reelection bid.

Melania told Fox News Digital in May 2023 that Trump "has my support, and we look forward to restoring hope for the future and leading America with love and strength."
