As Prince Archie, the son of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, turned five on Monday, there will be no public birthday greetings from the extended royal family, despite his lineage within the monarchy.

Staying true to tradition, it's anticipated that Prince Archie's fifth birthday will be celebrated privately at his family residence in Montecito, California. He will likely be joined by his parents, his sister Princess Lilibet, and his grandmother, Doria Ragland.

Although it has become customary for prominent members of the British royal family to extend birthday greetings via social media, there will be no public well-wishes for Prince Archie from senior royals.

However, this omission is in line with the practice of only acknowledging the birthdays of working members of the royal family on official social media platforms.

Royal correspondent Danielle Stacey explained how "In recent years and certainly since King Charles III's reign began in September 2022, we have only seen public messages from the royal family's social media accounts for working members of the royal family, such as the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and the Princess Royal."

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back as senior royals in 2020, and no longer carry out royal duties. Similarly, the palace doesn't typically share messages on the likes of Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall's birthdays nor their children's special days," Stacey continued.

While details about Archie's birthday plans remain undisclosed, if past celebrations are any indication, it will likely be a modest affair.

On his previous birthdays, Archie's festivities were kept relatively low-key. Last year, it's believed he marked his fourth birthday at home.

Archie's first birthday was documented in the Netflix special "Harry & Meghan," where he was depicted sitting in his highchair adorned with confetti. He sported a charming hat while being presented with a fruit-topped cake.

Meghan and Harry's son has observed each of his birthdays in the United States, despite his London birthplace.

At just five months old, Archie captivated audiences during the royal tour of South Africa, where he made his sole appearance alongside his parents on an official engagement. Additionally, he displayed an early fondness for literature, giggling joyfully as Meghan read "Duck! Rabbit!" to him on his first birthday in 2020.

His mother has affirmed his delight in being an older sibling, noting his assistance in helping Lilibet blow out her candles on her first birthday. This family celebration took place in the UK during Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee festivities in June 2022.

Compared to his older cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis of Wales, who recently celebrated their respective birthdays, Archie's fifth birthday is expected to be more low-key.
