Kendrick Lamar 'Control' 'King of NY' Verse Sparks New York Rap Debate: Big Daddy Kane Speaks [LISTEN]

Lamar made the reference on Big Sean's song Control, which went viral on Tuesday. On the track Lamar lays claim to New York's rap throne on his verse.

"I'm Machiavelli's offspring, I'm the king of New York / King of the Coast, one hand, I juggle them both," he raps on the song.

Several New York rappers, including Style P, heralded the verse as the conduit for the return of pure hip-hop: lyrically astute raps of a competitive nature.

"For all you who missed the golden era hopefully a bit of it comes back ! Get competitive and stop f**king sweating each others swag," he tweeted on Tuesday.

"I like the atmosphere right now I really really like what's happening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!," the rapper also tweetd in reference to Lamar's verse.

Rapper Joe Budden, however, reminded Styles P that Lamar's verse was a slight to all New York rappers, including Styles P.

"‪@therealstylesp he called out everybody. U included," Budden tweeted.

In response, Styles said the Notorious BIG is the only rapper he has ever considered to be the ruler of The Big Apple.

" ‪@JoeBudden 1st and foremost I have never acknowledged any kings but biggie ny or not ny 2nd of all don't play with me I f**k s**t up!"

Styles then took the intensity of his debate with Budden up a notch.

"‪@JoeBudden lyrically and physically so chill and save your Internet bulls**t 4 the next ninja," Styles tweeted, continuing his point from his previous tweet.

Styles P has since removed the tweet from his account and has apologized for threatening to make the argument with Budden a physical fight, however, Styles P and Joe Budden's tweets can still be seen here.
