Monty Python and the Holy Grail gets a modern day makeover in an ingenious new fan-made trailer for the film.

Stéphane Bouley uploaded the trailer, shown below, for Monty Python and the Holy Grail and what it would look like if it were made today. He uploaded it on Sept. 10. Things look grim and severe in Bouley's imaganation of the cult comedy from the Monty Python franchise.

The trailer starts with Arthur "the king of the prison" stating that he seeks the Holy Grail. Soundtracked to ominous overtures which gain pace and intensity as the trailer moves along, the dialogue has been carefully chosen so as to be able to manipulate it to fit a solemn mold. Featuring the characters saying stuff like, "There is a pestilence upon this land nothing is sacred" or "In the name of God we shall not stop fighting until each one of you is dead." The trailer runs with the tagline: "In a kingdom of despair, hope will rise again."

The trailer makes Holy Grail look like an epic war film, a mashup between Braveheart and Lord of the Rings, and Bouley does a great job of sucking the humor out of it.

The film, which was released in 1975, parodied the legend of King Arthur, who sets out on a quest to find the Holy Grail. He is accompanied on the comical journey by his squire Patsy, and his Knights of the Round Table, which include Sir Bedevere the Wise, Sir Lancelot the Brave, Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-As-Sir-Lancelot, and Sir Galahad the Pure.

The cast featured Monty Python regulars Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin. The film was directed by Gilliam and Jones.
