An interesting new musical could hit the Broadway stage if potential investors approve of it at a special preview performance.

SPEARS: The Gospel According to Briitney will be showing two advance performances for special investors only on Thursday, Nov. 7 at New York's Foxwoods Theatre in an effort to earn funding for a professional theatre run.

The show's website called it "the greatest story ever told to the greatest music ever written."

The musical follows the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ with the help of Spears' songs. It originally screened a sold-out performance at Columbia University when its creator, Patrick Blute, was a student there. He hopes the unique story will be given a repeat chance at success on a larger stage.

"SPEARS is a very special type of theatrical experience," Blute said, according to the show's website. "It is a piece that reconciles a lot of the anxiety 20-somethings feel about living in a society that has thousands of statements and not much substance. It appeals to those from a religious background because it tells an essential story using fragments of pop culture in a non-offensive way."

In his directorial insert for the show's run at Columbia, which Blute included on the website as well, Blute explained how the seemingly opposing worlds of Spears music and the Christian religion come together on stage. His "only hope" is for viewers to use their ears and their heart to take in his tale.

"So many of the heartaches, loneliness, and miscommunications that we feel are direct results of not listening. We don't listen to pleas for help. We don't hear the desperations of family and friends. But we will eavesdrop," he said. "We will infiltrate the personal space of others to get some type of satisfaction. To take context out of consideration through images. Through materialism. Through greed. So listen. These are Britney's lyrics. These are Jesus Christ's images."

If potential investors like the show and provide it with enough financial backing, it could potentially make its way to a run on Broadway. The show previously used a Kickstarter campaign to successfully fund its run at Columbia and it reached its goal $6,026 in 21 days, an amount that was $2,000 over its goal.

Songs featured in the show are set to include Stronger, Baby...One More Time, and You Drive Me Crazy.
