While Amanda Bynes continues to get treated for schizophrenia and bipolar disorders in rehab, her former co-star from The Amanda Show has a special message for her.

"I reached out to her awhile ago and yeah, I mean I hope she's doing OK. As soon as she's allowed to make contact again I'd like to make sure she's alright, Drake Bell told TMZ. "The first thing I'd say to her is calm down...I really don't know what's going on. It's all been kind of under wraps. You know, I just hope she's alright."

Bynes could be released from The Canyon rehab facility center in Malibu, Calif., under the care of her mother Lynn just in time for Christmas, the website reported Tuesday. Bell added that he hopes this is true and the actress will be able to go home soon.

"She's been a good friend for years. So you know, things happen," he said. "Life is rough sometimes."

Bynes has been under involuntary treatment since suffering a mental breakdown in July. She checked into the The Canyon facility in September after she transferred from University of California's medical center.

The What I Like About You actress is said to be recovering greatly and is allowed to "outings" each week.

"Amanda is being given two passes a week to go to the beach, or out to eat and do things like that, accompanied by a professional handler," an insider said.

In the meantime, Lynn has had temporary conservatorship over all of Bynes' financial responsibilities since August.
