Game of Thrones fans waiting for season 4 can rest assured that Theon (Alfie Allen) and Yara (Gemma Whelan) will make it through all 10 episodes.

The writers of Game of Thrones have diverged significantly from Theon and Yara's story arcs in George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels, on which the series is based. Theon's extended torture scenes do not occur until book 5 in the series (the writers are currently adapting book 3) and Yara does not go out to search and rescue Theon.

However, assuming the writers adapt one of the bigger plot lines for House Greyjoy, they will be in for some tragedy in season 4. In the books, Theon and Yara's father Balon Greyjoy (Patrick Malahide) dies. If Balon dies before Yara is able to set sail for Theon, she may decide to cancel her trip altogether.

With Balon not in command anymore, Yara is tasked with selecting a new King of Salt and Rock. She decides to participate in the election as well, though she ultimately ends up losing to her uncle Euron Greyjoy. However, this plot development may not be featured on Game of Thrones until season 5 as there has not been any casting news for Euron.

As for Theon, the Game of Thrones writers may take the plot line in a different direction than the books. However, Theon is able to survive more torture at the hand of Ramsay (Iwan Rheon) and should survive through season 4.

Season 4 of Game of Thrones is set to premiere in spring 2014, though specific premiere date has not yet been scheduled by HBO.
