While Jenji Kohan already brings with her a mightily high reputation from her work on HBO's hit TV series Weeds, she clearly could've never imagined that her current work of art, Orange Is The New Black would amass such a cult following.

On Dec. 26, Kohan spoke to The New York Times about the success of the program, which Netflix revealed as its most-watched original series, surpassing the popularity of its other mega-hit, the nine-time Emmy-nominated House of Cards.

"We're very pleased. They're very cryptic," she stated.

The talented writer, who also wrote for shows such as The Stones and Tracey Takes On, also had no qualms about admitting her initial preference for cable TV, which doesn't give the viewer the same opportunities to binge-watch a show such as OITNB.

"I'm finding the dark very restful and easy on the eyes. I miss it being a shared experience in real time. But it's something else, and I have to embrace it," Kohan admitted.
