Singer Vanessa Carlton is the latest celebrity to tie the knot without so much as a warning to her fans.

She married lead singer and guitarist of Deer Tick, John McCauley Friday evening. Carlton, 33, broke the news on Twitter and wrote, "Married this gentleman two hours ago xo."

In her first tweet as married woman, Carlton was donning a simple, long sleeved white dress with a low-cut front. She topped her look with a rosed headband and a bouquet of flowers in her hand. McCauley, sported a black jacket, green dress pants, and a black tie. The two newlyweds were gazing into each other's eyes and holding hands. Carlton's arm was also around McCauley's neck with a sunset in the background.

She also shared candid pictures on her Instagram page. In the first picture she is signing the marriage certificate with McCauley celebrating behind her and Nicks smiles for the camera. She captioned the picture, "It's official!"

The second picture is of the two smiling with McCauley looking at the camera and Carlton looking off to the side. She wrote, "McCauley-Carlton."

It's fitting for Carlton to spread the news on social media considering the two met on Twitter.

During an interview with Billboard McCauley revealed, "We met through Patrick Hallahan, from My Morning Jacket. He introduced us after I went on Vanessa's Twitter and said, 'Hey, VC let's get a beer. I had just figured out how to use Twitter so I was really proud of myself."
