Top TV Moments Of 2013: The Most Shocking & Heart-Warming Moments on Television [PHOTOS, VIDEOS]
As 2013 comes to a close, so does another year of some huge moments on the small screen.
Enstars has compiled a list of eight of the biggest moments on television screens this year:
1. The Quarterback Episode of Glee: Oct. 10, 2013
Episode three of Glee's fifth season was an episode no one ever planned on making, but after star Cory Monteith died from a mixed drug toxicity of heroin and alcohol in July, the show needed to find a way to remove his character of Finn Hudson from the show. What resulted was one of the most emotionally raw episodes to appear on television, and certainly the most emotional the show has ever produced. The episode did not address how the character died and instead focused on celebrating Finn's life. The Quarterback garnered the show's highest ratings since Sept. 20, 2012 and featured appearances by several cast members who were no longer on contract, including Iqbal Theba, Romy Rosemont, Mike O'Malley, Mark Salling, Amber Riley and Harry Shum Jr. It also featured two extremely emotional performances by Naya Rivera and Monteith's real-life girlfriend, Lea Michele.
2. Something New Episode of How I Met Your Mother: May 13, 2013
After eight years of endless teases and hints, the creators of the CBS sitcom finally introduced the title character of The Mother. Though midway through the show's final season she has yet to meet the other title character of Ted, her appearance was the payoff fans were hoping for.
3. Miley Cyrus's Performance of We Can't Stop/Blurred Lines with Robin Thicke at the MTV VMAs: Aug. 25, 2013
The most-talked about award show performance of 2013 was without a doubt Miley Cyrus' VMA number. It featured her slapping a dancer's ass, sporting a strange teddy-bear onesie, stripping down to a nude latex bikini, rubbing a foam finger against herself and twerking against Robin Thicke.
4. Felina Episode of Breaking Bad: Sep. 29, 2013
The final episode of AMC's juggernaut show bowed out on a surprising note that saw the infamous Walter White die in a rather unspectacular way. When Jesse didn't shoot him, Walter wound up walking into his meth lab one final time before dying from a gunshot wound anyway-one he received during the crossfire earlier on in the episode.
5. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Hosting The Golden Globes: Jan. 13, 2013
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler proved why they are some of America's favorite comediennes when they co-hosted the Golden Globes in January. Not only were they outrageously funny, but classy with their jokes as well. They did such a great job at keeping the show running smoothly that they were resigned to host next year's Globes as well, and the 2015 broadcast.
6. Too Far Gone Episode of The Walking Dead: Dec. 1, 2013
AMC's other juggernaut show The Walking Dead is known for shattering ratings records and yanking the fuzzy feel-good rug out from underneath its viewers feet. Several major characters have fallen prey to the zombie apocalypse during the show's seasons so far, but the mid-season finale for season 4 saw two major deaths. While it was a relief for fans to watch the incredibly evil and malicious Governor finally die, they unfortunately had to watch perhaps the most gruesome death yet: Hershel's beheading. None of the deaths on the show have been particularly far off from the gory side, but watching a character die so inhumanely at the hands another human was worse than watching them die after they suffer a bite.
7. The Sound of Music Live Telecast: Dec. 5, 2013
NBC produced a live telecast of The Sound of Music, starring Carrie Underwood, Stephen Moyer and Audra McDonald. The broadcast was a ratings success, and NBC already has plans in the works to produce another live musical broadcast next year.
8. The Colbert Report, StePhest Colbchella '013 : August 6, 2013
Stephen Colbert did a take on being 'Daft Punk'd' on a guest appearance by the band. Other guests on his special included Hugh Laurie, Jeff Bridges, The Radio City Rockettes, Jimmy Fallon, Bryan Craonston, Jon Stewart, Matt Damon, Henry Kissinger, Nick Cannon and the judges from America's Got Talent.
