Guardians of the Galaxy is often referred to as the odd one out in the Marvel Phase Two family, but Marvel Studios exec Kevin Feige recently reveled that the galactic film isn't so different after all.

The first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to not focus on a specific member of the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy raised a few eyebrows when it was announced. Now that principal photography has wrapped on the August release, however, new details have emerged showing that Guardians is indeed connected to the overarching MCU storyline - particularly that of the villainous Thanos.

"Ninety-nine percent of the film takes place on the other side of the universe with all new characters and all new worlds, although through certain connective tissue - such as Thanos in Avengers and some surprise appearances," Feige explained to Total Film, according to Comic Book Movie.

Although it still remains unclear whether or not Thanos will appear in the James Gunn directed film, his presence will defiantly be felt via his involvement with Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace).
