Gerard Butler is currently in final talks to star in a remake of Point Break.

The 300 standout is close to being attached to the role of Boshi, the undercover FBI agent who infiltrates a gang of thieves. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is aiming to shoot this summer with Ericson Core as the director. Core was the cinematographer for The Fast and the Furious and Daredevil.

Boshi is a sports athlete and saves undercover FBI agent Johnny Utah. The character Utah, who was previously played by Keanu Reeves in the 1991 version, has yet to be cast.

The original Point Break was directed by Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker). The film starred Patrick Swayze (Dirty Dancing) and Reeves (The Matrix).

The film won an MTV Movie Award for Most Desirable Male, which went to Keanu Reeves. Patrick Swayze was nominated for the same category. The movie was also nominated for Best Action Sequence.

Butler's previous films include 300, The Ugly Truth and P.S. I Love You. His most recent flick was Olympus Has Fallen with Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman. He also played Milo in the romantic action comedy, The Bounty Huner, alongside Jennifer Aniston.

This year, he will be reprising his animated role as Stoick the Vast in How to Train Your Dragon 2 with Kristen Wiig and Jonah Hill.

Butler is also set for Gods of Egypt, which is about a thief who joins a mythical god on a quest through Europe. Butler can be seen below during a recent guest spot on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
