Lone Survivor is expected to be a box office hit in its opening weekend.

The film could gross approximately anywhere from $35 million to $40 million, according to Forbes. These numbers are impressive since it's only being shown in 2,875 theaters nationwide.

Currently, Cloverfield holds the record for the biggest debut in January grossing $40 million on its opening weekend in 2008.

Lone Survivor stars Mark Wahlberg, who portrays former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell.

The movie, which was shot in New Mexico, is based on the 2005 ill-fated military mission called "Operation Red Wings." The assignment involved four members of SEAL Team 10 capturing a Taliban leader, Ahmad Shah. Luttrell, who received a Navy Cross for his efforts, was the only one to survive the mission.

The film also depicts the camaraderie amongst the SEALs. The catchphrase, "There are brothers that never leave your side," flashes across the screen in the film's trailer.

Wahlberg and his Lone Survivor costars also shared a similar relationship while on set.

"Amazing experience in bonding," he told reporters at the movie's premiere in New York City on Dec. 3, 2013.

Actor Eric Bana, who stars as Lieutenant Commander Erik Kristensen, also attested to Wahlberg's words and spoke about working with his cast members and actual Navy SEALS.

"It's a really special privilege," he said on the red carpet. "We really get a sense of humor and camaraderie. And that's what's really important to us as actors."

Lone Survivor, also starring Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch and Ben Foster, hit select theaters on Dec. 25, 2013 and was released nationwide on Jan. 10th.
